\nand she felt no concern, for she knew he’d return

\nher nurse called her ‚Lady Serene‘,
\nhe had met queerer folk and seldom would joke
\nwhen she talked to her lover unseen.<\/p>\n
\nhis small glasses set slightly askew,
\nhis coat soaked with rain, his back bent in pain,
\nbut his eyes were the ones that she knew.<\/p>\n
\nwearing brittle, old clothes from the war,
\nher face lined and bland, but a ring on her hand
\nthat no-one had noticed before.<\/p>\n
